"Gone but not Forgotten!"

"Boo-who! Boo-who!" Tears of joy are being shed since today is the last blog I will be making. I can say that I must admit that I have enjoyed this experience of putting my comments and ideas to be displayed on the computer. Blogging is useful (only when I could remember to do my posts/comments - smile- "Dr. Strange!")and I plan to use it in the near future! So long and I will always remember how I learned how to blog for the first time! Adios Amigos!

A Lesson in Life

I can truly say that this semester in EDM 310 was quite a rewarding experience. Although I've had prior exposure to a computer, my technological side was some what null and void. For the past sixteen weeks in class I have learned the following:

-How to do spreadsheets (which is a plus on my job!)
-How to create a website (I have become the envy of all my family)
-How to do a grade book and chart for my class in the future
-How to "correctly" use the features on Microsoft Word

I can say this class took a lot of time and patience on my part, but I am glad I had the opportunity. Since I am ready to go into the classroom, now I have more of a soild computer foundation that I can use to encourage my students to be more efficient.

"What a Web Creator"

"Musically Tasteful" is the best way to describe my web page. For our EDM 310 Web page assignment, I decided to discuss "My Favorite Male Gospel Singers." I really love music, gospel music especially. Since I grew up in the church, I have come to find that gospel music is truly a message within itself. When I get in the familiar place of feeling down or questioning life, I can just pop in one of my gospel cds and I feel much better.

If I could do something different to my web page, I wish that I could have added a button or a link that would either play a snippet of each gospel artist's music or have a site where you can get more information on them. I can say that after I finally figured out what I was doing, I was glad to see the final project. If you would like to take a look at my favorite gospel picks, just click here.

Taking a Look at Sarah Wilhem's Web Page

I had the pleasure of reviewing and commenting on the web page of Ms. Sarah Wilhem, who is a fellow EDM 310 class member (but she takes her class at 2pm). I really enjoyed her web page that is dedicated to her picks of the "Most Endangered Animals." The pictures of the specified animals were very realistic; however,I would like to suggest for a brief summary on why they are labeled as an endangered species to be added. I commend Sarah for sharing this information with us and I am sure it will make all of us more cognitive of all the animals who are on the verge of becoming extinct. To view Sarah's web page, just click here!

A Web Page Review on Nikita Anderson

I had the pleasure of reviewing and commenting on Ms. Nakita Anderson's web page. I must say first of all, Nikita is very photogentic and her pictures are very pretty. I loved her web page except for the contrast of the bright background and the color of the font on a few of the web pages (it made it hard to read the text). Outside of a few grammatical corrections and the need of making some of your pictures smaller, I say well done Ms. Nikita. If you would like to see Nikita's Web page, just click here!

What's Going on with Seymour Papert!

Who is Seymour Papert?-you may ask? Well, Mr. Papert is a very intelligent man. His career began with his decision to pursue mathematical research at Cambridge University from 1954-58. Following his working with Jean Piaget, Papert decided to consider to use mathematics in the service of understanding how children learned and think. He developed the theory of "Constructionism" which states that children learn best when they are in the active role of designer and constructor.

He is considered the world's foremost expert on how technology can provide a new way of learning. He currently acts as a faculty member for the Epistemology & Learning Group at MIT, where he is also the founder of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. In addition, Papert sits on the advisory board for MaMaMedia, Inc. and LEGO Mindstorms. He also lives in Maine where he founded "The Learning Barn" and where he is acknowledged as a distinguished professor by the University of Maine. From a literary stand point, Papert's book, "The Connected Family: Bridging the Digital Generation Gap (1996)" is designed for parents (and teachers) and children who are interested in the changes in learning that are brought about by the explosion of having a computer in the home. Blogging For the First Time

I guess I have to laugh out loud about this topic because I really don't know what to say. I have spent some years working with computers and I have never seen or heard anything like a blogger.

For the past three weeks, I have been trying to figure out how to work this (and I'm still trying), but I have seem to find this to be innovative. As a venturing educator, I can see this blogger as been a very informative tool in the classroom. For example, if I wanted to do a special presentation on a prominent figure for "Black History Month," then I could set up a blog to include their information, pictures, and links to find out more information on that person.

For me, I can say that this is a challenge (especially remembering to visit my own blog), but I plan not to be defeated. Blogging is very creative, however, if your like me and your limited in your computer knowledge, it can be a headache. I guess you have to "laugh at yourself" and work harder to learn more about this everyday. So, here's to blogging for the first time - I'm sure it won't be my last!

I Feel a Bug Coming On!

Hey out there! I'm trying my best to make it today. Since the weather is playing tricks on my body, I believe that I am coming down with a bug or something. I am having the "itchy throat, watery eyes, sneezing, stuffy nose, congestion, coughing, and body aching" day that won't let me feel better. Being a mother, I tend to take on all of my children's aliments. My daughter is at home with a temp and runny nose. I guess the "kooties" travel worse when you are a three year old who loves to kiss on my mommy - especially when she's sick. Does any one have a cure for common bug?
